The layout of everything works out well for Owen. Since his attention span is so short, he is able to go out on a quick boat ride (which is about all he could handle) and then head back to the house to play, nap and eat. We have been able to make the trip down the past two weekends and it was great. We are hopeful we will be able to head down Labor Day weekend with the Vollmers. Enjoy some of the pictures from our mini-vacation!
View from the deck.
Owen and Grammy checking out the view early one morning. This picture melts my heart because it wasn't posed. How sweet!
Owen insisted on helping drive the golf cart. So independent already! He circled the loop many times each day-twice he fell asleep on his golf cart ride and once, Poppy took him on an adventure where they saw a dead snake, a Mommy deer and two babies and a turtle. Something tells me in a couple years this kid will be all over it!
Woody and Charley got to tag along and for the most part were very well behaved. Woody only ate one bowl of bacon grease and Charley a bag of graham crackers. Sigh...They did love being able to run through the yard without leashes!
Taking a cruise on the boat with Poppy. He made his excited face and waved at the water quite a few times, but after about 10 minutes was ready to walk around. Obviously that doesn't work well for an early walker on a wobbly boat.
To keep him busy, Mom let him honk the boat horn, which he thought was so funny!
Sitting on the back of the boat with Aunt Erica.
One of the neighbors own property that has a 200 foot high cliff on it. Every year they invite people to the top of the cliff to watch fireworks. Mom stayed home with Owen since he was already in bed and the rest of us went over. Needless to say, I didn't end up watching the fireworks from up there because Erica started having a crazy panic attack (like for real-tears, shaking, etc) because of how far up we were, so I offered to take her to the bottom. I was the second most freaked out, so I didn't mind. We did snap a picture though before Erica and I went down the hill.
Dad and his favorite son-in-law...
...taking on the two future son-in-laws (maybe-no rings yet) in a friendly game of corn hole!!
Dad's boat garage a.k.a the party garage is one of the favorite attractions at the lake. It is equipped with a ping pong table, cornhole, beer lights galore and blaring country music. It is basically where we hang out each night and drink beer. Like I said, anything goes! We even drank with the neighbor one night who had on a pair of jorts-like for real jorts!!! Good times-can't wait to go back :)
