Mike's parents drove over the day after we arrived back from vacation to return our dogs (a big THANK YOU to them for keeping them while we were gone). They brought Owen his birthday gifts and a small cake to enjoy. It was fun being able to have a celebration with them!
On his actualy birthday, we had Nick, Adrienne, Ben and Lucy over for cake and ice cream. As you can tell, Thomas the Train was the "theme." He is so beyond obsessed with trains, and making this ridiculously cute "cheese face" in every picture I try to take of him!
Chocolate cake goodness.

Enjoying birthday cake and ice cream shirtless and outside at the picnic table with your BFF. What could be better?!
At two years old, Owen is a sponge. Every day is something new with him--he is sweet, sour, hot, cold, smart, loving, energetic, challenging, inquisitive and an all around perfect little boy. I can't imagine him any other way. We have learned as parents the importance of teaching a two year old who is boss and sticking to our guns with discipline. We have also learned to just laugh when the the "throw yourself on the ground tantrums" occur for no reason at all. It must be hard being two! Owen is talking a mile a minute and is actually able to have two way conversation with us. My personal favorites are when he says, "Mommy best friend." or "Snuggle with Mommy." He certainly has a soft spot for his Daddy as well. He is now officially transitioned into the two's room at school. It has been a tough transition for him, but we love his teachers and he is learning so much! He even has started potty training at school and seems to have a real interest. We'll see!
At his two year doctors appointment, he weighed in at 28.6 lbs (50th percentile) and 36 1/2 inches long (90th percentile). He has been very consistent with his growth. Still on track to be a tall, lean boy!
We love you, Owen! Can't wait for all the exciting stuff this year is sure to bring us. We are the luckiest parents in the world to have you!
